Wei Fang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy, Sun Yat-sen University, and an honorary research fellow in the Department of Philosophy, University of Queensland.

His research mainly focuses on issues related to scientific explanation, e.g., non-reductive explanation in the biological sciences, mechanisms and mechanistic explanation, causal explanation and causal modeling, proportionality and higher-level causal explanation, etc.

He is also interested in the mental causation problem in philosophy of mind, where he attempts to argue for the causal efficacy of the higher-level properties.
