Luke Kersten is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Alberta. His research focuses primarily on issues in philosophy of mind, cognitive science, and AI.

Luke received his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh (2020). He has held previous positions at the University of Lisbon (2022) and Ruhr-Universität Bochum (2021), as well visiting positions at the University of London (2023) and University College Cork (2018).

Some of his current interests include computationalism, embodied and extended cognition, consciousness, generative AI, predictive processing, and the nature of psychological explanation.

When not philosophising, he enjoys reading, hiking, camping, travelling, and playing hockey.
