Gunnar Babcock is a lecturer in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and an affiliate in the Sage School of Philosophy, both at Cornell University. Before coming to Cornell, he spent four years as a postdoc in the Biology Dept. at Duke University working with Dan McShea.

Much of Gunnar’s research focuses on developing a theory of goal-directed systems. His broader research interests include biological individuality, species, evolution, and biotechnology. His teaches ethics in life sciences and general philosophy of biology.
