Emily Parke is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland. Before moving there she grew up in Seattle, got her BA at Reed College, worked for a synthetic biology company in Italy, and completed her PhD at the University of Pennsylvania.

She works on various topics in the philosophy of science and philosophy of biology, drawing on a mixed background in philosophy and biology. Her recent work focuses on microbiology, astrobiology, and various topics at the local interface of philosophy and science in Aotearoa; you can find out more on her website, linked below. She is an Associate Editor at Biology & Philosophy and Assistant Director of Te Ao Mārama—Centre for Fundamental Inquiry.
