Cristina is Group Leader in Philosophy of the Life Sciences at the Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Research (KLI), in Austria. She is a philosopher of biology specializing in causal explanations, probabilities and chance in evolutionary biology.

She was a research assistant at Complutense University of Madrid (2020-2021), and a postdoctoral fellow at the KLI (2021-2022) and the Center for Philosophy of Science of the University of Lisbon (2022-2025).

She is particularly interested in the intersection between evolutionary developmental biology and evolutionary quantitative genetics, and her work explores the epistemological, ontological, and historical aspects of this interface, especially in the context of evolvability research.
